Beginner-friendly iOS app development workshop at Objective For The Wee v4, July 30, 2026. Build a modern iOS app, learn how entitlements and the iOS permission system work, debug with lldb, and get a first taste of reverse engineering in Ghidra.
New to developing secure iOS apps? In this workshop, you’ll learn how to build a modern iOS app, how the iOS permission system with entitlements and protected resources work, and how to debug it using lldb. You’ll even learn reverse engineering by doing a static analysis in Ghidra to see what Xcode has built.
This workshop will take place on July 30, 2026, as part of Objective For The Wee v4.
Attending this workshop is free and open to everyone who wants to enter this field, such as students and anyone early in their career. However, due to limited seat availability, a registaration via the official website of the Objective For The Wee v4 is required.
This workshop will be very beginner-friendly but at the same time show you a perspective on app development that most developers don't see during their regular work.
For the practical exercises, macOS is strongly preferred. We will offer a setup to build an iOS app from other systems without Xcode, but this will reduce usability of the setup.
Jiska Classen is a wireless and mobile security researcher and research group leader. The intersection of these topics means that she digs into iOS internals, reverse engineers wireless firmware, and analyzes proprietary protocols. Her practical work on public Bluetooth security analysis tooling uncovered remote code execution and cryptographic flaws in billions of mobile devices. She also likes to work on obscure and upcoming wireless technologies, for example, she recently uncovered vulnerabilities in Ultra-wideband distance measurement and reverse engineered Apple's AirTag communication protocol. She has previously spoken at Black Hat USA, DEF CON, REcon, hardwear.io, Chaos Communication Congress, Chaos Communication Camp, Gulasch Programmier Nacht, MRMCDs, Easterhegg, Troopers, Pass the Salt, NotPinkCon, gave various lectures and trainings, and published at prestigious academic venues.
